Data collection

Netflix Button Blocker collects no personal data. There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, no account system, and the app has no internet access — it cannot transmit anything off the device.

On-device settings

Your preferences (blocking enabled, toast enabled, remap target app) are stored only on your device using Android's local preferences storage. They are never uploaded or shared.

Accessibility service disclosure

The app uses an AccessibilityService for its core, user-requested function: intercepting the Netflix button (key code 181 and equivalents) on Shield remotes so it can be blocked or remapped to another app. To do this, the service observes key events and the package name of the foreground app (used solely to avoid relaunching an app that is already open, e.g. during playback). No key content, screen content, or any other accessibility data is recorded, stored, or transmitted. Use of the service is optional and requires your explicit consent in the Android system settings.

Permissions

The app requests only: foreground-service status notification, boot-completed restart of that notification, and app-query access to list launchable apps for the remap picker. None of these leave the device.

Children

The app is a general-utility TV tool, collects nothing, and is safe for all ages.
